“Please let us get to Assisi soon”
“Yay we finally made it!”
The city is on a mountain, so you have to take a short bus ride to the monastery of St. Francis. The view from the city is beautiful, overlooking Umbria (the region where Assisi is located.) St. Francis left quite a legacy on this country and all of Christianity (esp Catholicism) as you can see in these cute little monks!
The church was stunning. There are two levels- the bottom is so ornate and covered in frescoes with various scenes of the bible and lives of saints, and the top church has frescos painted by Giotto detailing stories from the Old Testament, the life of Christ, and the life of St. Francis. It was quite possibly my most favorite church in all of Italy- and I have been to quite a lot!
Afterwards, we explored the city some more before catching our train back to Firenze. (8.5 hrs of travel, 3 hrs in Assisi- oh well)

i love those monks! I think my aunt collects them?
