On Friday the 22nd, Anny and I rented bikes. We had a fairly good idea of the layout of Munich, and wanted to visit all of the parks. The sun was out and it was a little bit warmer- so a perfect day!
We started along the Isar River and to my surprise/joy- FALL WAS IN MUNICH! The leaves were changing colors and it was absolutely beautiful.
We stopped to play in the leaves and take pictures every ten minutes or so. :)
Munich is such a bike-friendly city! They have paths along the roads and even biker street lights.
We rode towards the English Garden (Englischer Garten) and passed by the surf wave. Ohmygosh I was cold just watching him. Julia taught me this river is called the “Ice River.” I can only imagine how it must feel to be in it… horrible.
We biked around the English Garden for a long time, just enjoying the sites (and the ducks.)
For lunch, we went to the Chinese Tower (naturally), and ate another very German meal. Meat, fries, and beer.
From the English Garden, we rode towards the Olympic Park but ended up finding another one (Luitpoldpark). It had a great climbing tree.
Heading northwest, we found the BMW headquarters!
Across the street from BMW is the Olympic Park. (Munich hosted in 1972) They had a very creative advertising effort from Mini Cooper.
We kept on biking towards the Nymphenburg Palace. Unfortunately, our time on the bike rental was almost expired, so we did a quick tour on bikes of the front of the palace (can you believe how BIG it is?) and the back gardens. Oh and we played with the swans.
After six and a half hours of biking, we were tired. These are our tired faces.
We had dinner at another well-known beer house called Weisses Bräuhaus. Annnndd again, we ate pretzels and sausage.
